The village of L’Alfàs del Pi and municipality of the same name are part of the province Alicante. The village is situated on the so-called Costa Blanca, not far from the Mediterranean Sea. Although the mostly quiet village is not a tourist trap, it does have one of the highest rates of European immigrants. Especially, Norwegians, British and Dutch, left for the sun in the 1970s.
The Costa Blanca is of course the ultimate destination for lovers of sun, sea, and beach. The various seaside towns in the area all have their own Spanish charm with vast (pebble) beaches, boulevards and terraces. Not far from L’Alfàs del Pi, are popular seaside resorts such as Albir and Altea. A bit more to the north is Calpe, which is famous for its rock in the sea, the “Penyal d’Ifac”, its fishing harbour with fish market, and the many fish restaurants.
Looking for a bit more liveliness? Benidorm is less than fifteen minutes by car. The clean and safe beaches here have been awarded many times. Except sun bathing, you can also enjoy many (water) sports activities such as volleyball, beach football, or water-skiing (towed by the cable ski installation of the water-ski school).
Had enough of all the sand between your toes? There is always something to do here. The vast mountain area west of L’Alfas, in the direction of Spain’s interior, encloses the entire region and is great for walking, cycling and hiking.
There is plenty of fun for the entire family such as theme parks and water parks in and around Benidorm. Sports fanatics will have a fantastic time in “Parque de Foietes” where they can do various ball sports, run a lap or two at the athletics track, or swim at the Olympic size pool. Until the early hours of the morning both young and old will have a great time in vibrant Benidorm.
Friday is market day in the village. The market offers a great variety of gadgets, but also fresh fruit and vegetables. The surrounding area of L’Alfàs del Pi has many points of interest such as “El Castell de Guadalest” (the castle of Guadalest) to the northwest of the town. The castle not only gives an insight into the old way of life, it also offers a stunning view. Seaside town Altea is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful towns of the region. The town’s old town centre boasts a beautiful church called “Nuestra Señora del Consuelo”. The church square offers a fantastic view of the town and its white houses.
L’Alfàs del Pi has a big supermarket, a pharmacy, bakery, bike hire shop, and a large offer of shops, restaurants and terraces. The town also boasts many Dutch cafés and British pubs, which only emphasise the various nationalities residing here.
