The Grevelingenmeer at 2 km away on the north side of the island is a water sports paradise: a 11,000 ha. lake with clean, clear water for diving, swimming, sailing, fishing and boating. The nearest town of Renesse offers entertainment in the form of cafes, shops and restaurants. The North Sea with its beautiful, wideset beaches of 17 km length. The other islands of Zeeland are close by, making them the ideal day trip. Here you can visit beautiful old towns like Veere and Midelburg. You can even go a little bit further and visit Belgium’s Ghent and Bruges!

Nice shops and restaurants, free bus rides to the beach (during summerseason, leaving from the “Transferium”) and an exciting nightlife are just a few of the characteristics that make “Renesse” an attractive holiday destination.
Renesse is centrally located along the stretched North Sea Beach that forms the coastline of “Schouwen-Duiveland”.The wide and clean beaches are divided into different types; family, natural, sport- & water sports, nudist zones, and extreme sport beaches. For all these different types are specific rules to ensure visitors can relax in safety. The rules are conveniently located on signs at each of the beach transitions.
The enormous wideset beaches of “Schouwen-Duiveland” are well-known in Holland and abroad. Premium quality beaches are recognizable by the waving “Blue Flag” and are located on not just one, but three locations on the island! The “Blue Flag” is an international prize that is annually awarded to clean and safe beaches. Current award holders are the beach transitions at “Jan v. Renesseweg”, “Julianahoeve” and the “Burgh-Haamstede transition” in “Westenschouwen”.
Divided among the entire length of 21 kilometers of beach you will find no less than 14 beach pavilions, of which some are also open in the winterseason, most of them at least on the weekends.
During the season, at the most crowded transitions in “Burgh-Haamstede” and “Renesse”, there is a fully operational beach lifeguard post, staffed entirely by volunteers from all over the country. These are the people who like to combine the pleasant with the needed during their holiday.
